Responsible Resource Management

At Yapı Kredi, we systematically manage the environmental impact of our operational activities. In this regard, we implement the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System in our Head Office and domestic subsidiary buildings.

We are also committed to zero-waste practices for the future of our planet. Our Head Office building and Banking Base have a Zero Waste Certificate issued by the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization. Within the scope of the Zero Waste Project, which aims to achieve a sustainable world, we implement measures in our facilities to ensure the efficient use of limited natural resources, prevent waste, separate waste from its source, and reduce waste.

Our pioneering approaches in digital banking enable us to reduce our environmental impact by digitizing many processes involving more than 800 private and corporate transactions. Our "Do Not Panic Button" service on Yapı Kredi Mobile prevents unnecessary card issuance by temporarily canceling customers' cards in the event of a possible theft or card loss. Thus, we prevent additional carbon emissions by stopping hundreds of thousands of unnecessary card closures.

At the core of our business model and across all operational areas, we have established sustainability-focused transformation goals. We use digitalization, technology and innovation as the driving force behind our sustainability activities. As the pioneer of remote customer acquisition in the sector, we provide our customers the convenience of a Video Transaction Assistants service while reducing paper waste and making a significant contribution to a sustainable world. Our paperless transaction and digitalization efforts that started in 2019 allowed us to save billions of pieces of paper in customer transactions across all our service channels. Additionally, we are at the forefront of sustainable finance, offering products that allow the most efficient use of natural resources, both directly and indirectly.

ENVIRONMENTAL TARGETS FOR 2024

  • Ensuring the continuity of certification in accordance with the ISO 14064-1 Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reporting Standard at all locations of our Bank
  • Ensuring the continuity of our Bank's ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification and expanding it to all locations in 2024
  • Ensuring the continuity of our Bank's ISO 14046 Direct Water Footprint certification and expanding it to all locations in 2024
  • Ensuring the continuity of ISO 50001 Energy Management System certificate in Head Office buildings
  • Ensuring the continuity of the waste management system in the locations where our Bank's Zero Waste System is installed and establishing the Zero Waste System in all locations in 2024
  • Obtaining 100 percent of our Bank's electricity demand in 2024 from renewable energy sources
  • Neutralization of Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions in 2024
  • Monitoring efficiency following the implementation of the project to digitalize our Bank's electricity, natural gas, and water consumption data
