Financial Health and Inclusion

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals emphasize under a number of its goals the importance of financial accessibility for society, especially women, farmers, SMEs, startups, and youth, for sustainable growth and development. We believe that an advanced and transformed financial system and widespread availability of financial services are important factors for improving social welfare and reducing social inequalities. With our financial solutions, we strive to increase access to finance for all segments of society and to offer products and services that meet their needs.

Accordingly, we participated as a founding signatory to the Financial Health and Inclusion Initiative, established by the United Nations Responsible Banking Principles in 2021, and committed to setting our goals in this area within 18 months of joining the initiative. In 2022, under the Financial Health and Inclusion working group established by the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), together with other national and international banks, we took an active role in the creation of target and indicator sets to increase financial health and inclusion in society. In light of these indicators, we carry out activities to increase the financial literacy of disadvantaged groups and their access to financial products. We regularly and transparently report developments in this area every year. In 2023, as part of our commitment to support the financial resilience of women entrepreneurs, we set a target of a 10 percent increase by 2026 in the percentage of our women entrepreneur customers with two or more active financial products from different categories.

We aim to reach a total of 20,000 women entrepreneurs in five years through advantageous products and services designed for women entrepreneurs as part of the United Nations Women's Generation Equality Forum’s gender equality movement in technology and innovation, where our main shareholder, Koç Group, plays a transformative role.

As an unwavering advocate of gender equality, we launched the "Equal Opportunity in Technology" project in partnership with the International Training Center for Authorities and Leaders (CIFAL Istanbul) affiliated with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), and Bahçeşehir University (BAU) to ensure equal opportunities for women in technology and innovation. We aim to reach 80,000 women in three years and increase their knowledge and awareness in the field of technology through the training that will be provided free of charge to all women between the ages of 18-27 and young people living in the earthquake zone, regardless of gender.
